CSDB sponsored two students to the Close Up program, held in Washington, D.C. Close Up is a program that helps young people develop the skills and attitudes to become informed and engaged citizens. Using the nation’s capital as a living classroom, participants get a “close up” view of government - interacting with the people, processes, and places that make this federal city so unique.
The two students and a teacher had an action-packed week which included watching a congressional session, meeting with our state representatives including Senator Mark Udall, below, touring the Holocaust Museum, and meeting other students who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing from around the nation. Both students came back from the experience having learned how our government works, excited to share with their classmates.
