Deaf+Autism family day
CSDB proudly partnered with Colorado Hands & Voices, Marion Downs and Natural Wisdom Counseling, to provide the Deaf+Autism community a family day filled with activities and information. The event, at Happy Dog Ranch in Littleton, involved families who have children who are dually diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder(ASD) and who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing. Families enjoyed a picnic lunch, played games, fed alpacas, and watched a demonstration of equine therapy, a popular support for children with ASD.
Above left, children meet a horse held by an equine therapist. Above right, two children and three adults look through the fence at two alpacas. Below, before this photo was taken, a young boy slowly approached Fritz the cat, squatted next to him, meowed and then shifted to share the cat’s point of view.
