High School Social Studies Program

All freshmen at CSDB take World Geography. Students examine different cultures and physical areas of the world. Emphasis is placed on political and social borders. Sophomores at CSDB take a semester of Government and a semester of Law. The US History course is offered to juniors at CSDB. This challenging course covers American history from the Civil War to the present. Psychology is a senior elective class. Students examine all areas of Psychology, including developmental, social, research, physiological, health, and abnormal psychology. All social studies courses are aligned with state standards and benchmarks.

Extra projects and programs are also offered in the Social Studies department. Students are required to complete two community service projects, and participate in the annual foreign policy seminar as part of the Government course. Students visit the county court house as part of the Law course. CSDB students participate in both the state and federal Close Up programs. In the past we have sent students to Model UN, and Cultural Diversity workshops in Denver.
