The School for the Blind Library/Media Center is located in the Adams building.  The library media center provides a variety of resources and services for students who are blind/visually impaired. These resources include 12 computers equipped with assistive technologies such as screen readers, braille displays, and magnification software. A braille embosser, connected to a computer with braille translation software and closed-circuit televisions are also stationed in the media center. Magnification devices for students with low vision are included in the media center inventory.  These devices are issued to students who have completed an eye exam and given documented prescription for a device, such as monoculars, hand held magnifiers (dome, LED, electronic).

There are over 7,000 books in our library collection that are age appropriate fiction and nonfiction books in a variety of formats, such as DVD’s, audio, braille, twin vision, regular and large print books. We also subscribe to several research databases and receive Scholastic News Magazines in braille and large print.

Parents, professionals, and communities who serve the blind/visually impaired population locally or statewide may borrow materials from our library. If you are parents or members of this community and would like to borrow library materials , please complete a CSDB Library Community Consent Form. After the form is received and processed, you will be notified and given more information as to the checkout/return procedure. Please click on the link to the left to open the form, print it, fill it out and mail or fax to the address provided on the form. If you are in the area, feel free to drop off the form at the front desk in the administration building.
