This position was created to assure the program is properly meeting the needs of young children with hearing loss. It is important that the consumers feel a program for children who are deaf or hard of hearing adequately and accurately represents the perspective of members of the deaf culture and hard of hearing adults, as well.

Familiarity with curricular areas of the program, e.g.,
family-centered intervention, amplification and auditory training,
language development for newborn to three year-old children

Familiarity with systems of care for children
with hearing loss
in the state

Familiarity with transition services for three year-old children
entering preschool programs

Ability to endorse a wide variety of communication methods

Ability to support parents and to endorse their choices

An adult who is deaf or hard of hearing

BA from an accredited college or university

Providing consultation to the program administration by meeting with
the CHIP administrative team and Colorado Hearing Resource (CO-Hear)
coordinators

Representing the interests of the providers who
are deaf or hard of hearing for
the program, e.g., adult role models,
facilitators, and sign language instructors

Obtaining information, e.g., resources, curriculums, funding
sources, from early intervention programs for children who are deaf or hard of hearing
in other states

Pursuing funding opportunities for additional activities

Publicizing activities of the program
