The Colorado Home Intervention Program is part of the Early Education Department at the Colorado School for the Deaf and the Blind which functions under the auspices of the Colorado Department of Education. The program director is responsible for the following:

Developing technical information and training
materials on these topics:

Infant development

Parent counseling

Speech
-
Communication and language
-
Auditory training

Disseminating information to parents,
professionals, and agencies statewide and nationally

Directing, training, and evaluating part-time
regional coordinators, subprogram administrators, and interventionists

Developing and monitoring accountability
procedures of the program

Advising regional coordinators of the regional
plan

Advising program staff on policies, procedures,
and treatment standards
-
Organizing, administering, and managing the
data collection system
-
Coordinating with university research staff to
determine how to alter program principles based on data obtained

Conducting research based upon program
information in conjunction with research conducted by other agencies
-
Participating in the development of best
practices for early intervention programs
-
Acquiring funding for the program by writing
grants to state agencies, private non-profit organizations, and local
service organizations
-
Managing the overall budget by reviewing
spreadsheets and analyzing spending patterns
-
Developing guidelines for best practices in the
area of re/habilitation as it applies to other populations (e.g.,
children with chronic otitis media, children who are candidates for
cochlear implants, children with combined hearing and vision loss)
