Noodle Art with Karen Sample's Special Needs Classroom
Karen Samples’ elementary class in the School for the Deaf is a unique classroom. It is partially a resource room for students who are struggling with literacy and math, and a self-contained room for students who have more moderate to severe cognitive needs.
The classroom focuses on learning academics, life skills and social skills, daily living skills, recreation and leisure skills, and safety and travel skills. Lessons are developed to meet each student’s individual needs and are taught through large and small group activities incorporating the multiple intelligences. Students enjoy what they are learning and are being successful at their own levels of functioning.
