This program prepares students to use their full potential to participate in a scientific and technological society. Students are involved in real-life, hands-on activities in science that promote achievement and scientific literacy. The CSDB high school Science program offers health, life science, chemistry, integrated biological science, earth science, and physics. CSDB follows the Colorado state content science standards and benchmarks.

The CSDB high school science department is full of fun! Students are involved in building roller coasters (Physics/technology), making ice cream (Chemistry), growing mold (Biology), building bird feeders (Life Science), and creating 3-D models of the moon (Earth and Space Science). And this is just the beginning! Students do science by learning about everyday, real-life events. Chemistry students learn about metals by designing a coin. Biology students learn about genetics by creating a classroom-sized DNA model from licorice and marshmallows. Health students find out about the digestive system by pushing a tennis ball (food) through a sock (the esophagus) and thus learning about peristalsis. Students get involved by interacting with the "stuff" of science, not by just reading about it in a textbook. Don't worry; the textbook is a vital part of our learning but so is the Internet, newspapers, and magazines. Join us and learn that science CAN BE fun!
