Outreach Services for the Deaf
In collaboration with additional state agencies serving non-CSDB students who are Deaf/hard-of-hearing, the school strives to create innovative approaches for developing, facilitating, and supporting numerous projects off campus. Projects are always under construction and review with new ones being added as the need arises. Just to name a few ...
- Work collaboratively with the
Colorado Department of Education (CDE), the
Colorado Home
Intervention Program (CHIP), and
Colorado Families for Hands and Voices as a part of the Colorado
Outreach Network Team.
- Assist in the development of recommendations for the reform of
systems serving kids who are D/HH via the process developed by the Deaf
Education Reform Initiative.
- Facilitate the enactment of the Educational Interpreter Standards
Act.
- Support the development and implementation of staff development
activities such as of the Colorado Symposium on Deafness, Language, and
Learning and the Family Learning Retreat for service providers and
parents throughout the state.
- Provide funding for student activities such as the Education Beyond
High School Information Fair, Middle School Retreat, and the
Denver Metro Track and Field Day.
- Collaborate with the Colorado Home Intervention Program (CHIP) in
the development and, upon request, implementation of the use of Deaf
adult role models in working with families and kids who are Deaf/hh from
the ages of birth to twenty-one.
- Provide direct services in the form of consultation to service
providers in regions unable to hire the appropriate personnel. The
school also has on staff professionals who provide audiological
services, psychological evaluations, and transition support.
