Welcome to the CSDB Transition Program web page.
At CSDB, we strive for students in the Transition Program to have the knowledge, skills, motivation and/or support to better themselves in order to be as responsible and independent as possible by maximizing their potential in the following:
*Vocational/Education *Life Skills
*Recreational/Leisure *Social/Emotional
*Self Advocacy
These will be measured by improvements towards goals established in the individualized transition plan (ITP).
The following six target areas for the Transition Program include desired outcomes for student achievement:
Assistive Technology
Post-Secondary Education/Training
Independent Living Skills
Work Preparedness
Work Experience
Transition to Life
Staff in the Transition Program include four teachers and three para-educators who work as job coaches. These staff teach nearly 40 students, though for the 2007-2008 school year, we anticipate 50 students enrolled in the Transition Program.
Unique in the State of Colorado, the Transition Program provides outreach services, community-based services, and residential services. Involvement in the Transition Program may include classes on the CSDB campus or at the local community college, employment, and/or on-the-job training in the Transition students' home districts. In addition, some students attend 4-year colleges throughout the country.
The Transition Program at CSDB is open to any student who is deaf/hard of hearing or blind/visually impaired, and who has completed high school graduation requirements but has not received a diploma. The student must have an active Individual Education Plan (IEP), transferable to CSDB.
