School for the Deaf (K-12)
CSDB’s School for the Deaf is a place where Deaf culture, language, and community come alive. Our students learn in a fully immersive ASL environment that celebrates who they are and how they learn. American Sign Language is a foundation for confidence, learning, and connection.
Deaf schools like CSDB provide what mainstream settings often cannot: direct access to language, representation, and belonging. Here, Deaf students see themselves reflected in their teachers, mentors, and friends. They are understood, supported, and encouraged to explore their strengths in a space designed for them.
We believe bilingualism in ASL and English is every Deaf child’s right. Through both languages, students gain the tools to think critically, express themselves clearly, and engage with the world around them. Our Deaf-led community ensures every student is seen, valued, and prepared to take ownership of their future.
When Deaf children recognize their birthright to signed languages and community, they flourish, not just in learning, but in life.
Jennifer has been a dedicated member of the CSDB community since 2018. She began her tenure as Principal of the Bridges to Life program, supporting Deaf and Blind students in developing workforce readiness and post-school transition skills. In 2023, she was selected as Principal of the School for the Deaf, where she currently serves Deaf students from kindergarten through high school.
Jennifer is passionate about creating transformative educational spaces rooted in Deaf-lived experiences, ASL immersion, and community. She champions bilingual ASL–English learning, cultural affirmation, real-world experiences, and inclusive practices that celebrate diversity, empower self-advocacy, and ensure Deaf students feel seen, respected, supported, and prepared to thrive.
Prior to joining CSDB, Jennifer began her career at the Atlanta Area School for the Deaf and later spent fifteen years at the Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind, serving as a Teacher of the Deaf, IEP Coordinator, and Staffing Coordinator responsible for the admissions and special education process. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Secondary English Education, master’s degrees in both Deaf Education and Educational Leadership, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership. Jennifer is guided by the steadfast belief that when Deaf students are fully seen, valued, and empowered, they can achieve anything.
