Welcome Dr. Benham
Dr. Benham moved here most recently from New York, where she was the Assistant Superintendent of the New York State School for the Deaf. She began leading CSDB July 1, 2019, after the retirement of Carol Hilty, former superintendent.
At Lamar University, in Texas, Dr. Benham received a Bachelor’s degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology, and a Master’s degree in Deaf Education. Her Ph.D. in Educational Administration and Supervision was received from the University of Southern Mississippi.
After 16 years of teaching deaf education at the collegiate level, Dr. Benham moved into the Early Intervention Coordinator for the Deaf position at the Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf. Since then, she has served in a variety of administrative positions at schools for the deaf.
“While my formal training and professional experience has focused on the education of the Deaf, I am committed to learning as much as I can about our students who are Blind or who have Low Vision and to ensure that we are providing a quality education to prepare all students to become successful contributing members of society.” ~ Dr. Nancy Benham, CSDB Superintendent
