Older student assists a younger student in a walker, while a teacher looks on.Written by Shamaree, student in the School for the Blind

My name is Shamaree and I work with younger students, in the School for the Blind. I assist Ms. Gunning, in facilitating the younger students’ learning. Whenever students need help, they raise their hands or call my name. I help students use the video magnifier, to assist with reading a book. Additionally, I guide students with feeling tactile symbols and designs when we are reading a flipbook. Furthermore, I help set up snacks, guide students to the restroom or to get a drink of water. I absolutely love helping Ms. Gunning – it brings me a sense of pride and joy.
