May 29, 2020- Seniors, from the Colorado School for the Deaf and the Blind, celebrated their graduation from high school, during an in-person ceremony. Students received congratulations and words of encouragement from Dr. Nancy Benham, Superintendent, and Dr. Michelle Butler, member of the Board of Trustees.
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, CSDB altered the traditional ceremony to comply with the state requirements of social distancing and health screening. Seniors were seated in chairs on the gymnasium floor, with two members of their household seated directly behind them – all attendees wore masks. Wizzy Snare kicked off the morning with the singing of the National Anthem, while Skylar Bastian interpreted using ASL. Meaningful speeches by the school’s Valedictorian, Jack Lambert, and Senior Speaker, Angel Ramos, and then music by Salutatorian, Liam Nicol, were followed by a commencement address given by CSDB alum Jessica Lorenz. We are incredibly proud of the CSDB graduates of 2020!
