Once Upon a Sign: ASL Storytime

Three young children and two ladies sit on a carpeted floor.CSDB’s Language and Literacy Consultant, Jennifer McLellan spent the morning in Colorado Springs, at Library 21c’s storytime, featuring “Bears” themed early literacy activities and storytelling in American Sign Language (ASL). The families learned basic ASL, joined in an ASL chant about bears, participated in rhymes and music activities, and made crafts. Larissa Powers, the librarian, provided the Spoken Language access. Families expressed anticipation and excitement for similar storytime events!
