CSDB has always been interested in advancing students’ academic abilities in a way that is fun and engaging. One exciting thing that CSDB has done, for the past 6+ years, is host the Oratorical Speech Contest. In partnership with the Optimist Club, CSDB has been able to showcase students who practice the difficult challenge of public speaking. Students create a 4-5 minute speech on a topic related to optimism, and perform their speeches for the entire school and the Optimist Club’s judges, for the chance to compete at the club level. The School for the Deaf and the School for the Blind students engage in this contest. This contest helps students gain many different skills such as optimism, improved public speaking, improved compensatory skills and comprehensive vocabulary.Girl standing behind a podium
